I can't believe it has been three years since I last posted in this blog about our wedding in Ericeira / Quinta de Santana. I have been asked so many times for tips and tricks for both Irish people considering a wedding abroad and friends / family visiting Lisbon / Ericeira region on holidays. Despite thinking we'd be back soon after our wedding, it took three years for Dave and I to make a return visit.
This time we had an extra passenger; our 12-month old baby boy, Oisín. We spent ten glorious days toddling (literally, Oisín has just learned to walk) around Ericeira and made a special visit back to the Quinta de Sant'Ana to meet Ann and James and some of their seven sons.
It was a really lovely time of the year to go back; they're just finishing the harvest and we got a really special wine tasting tour through the vineyards and in the wine cellar. Jimmy, the latest addition (age 2) and Oisín had great fun knocking around on the forklift.
We even met another Irish bride on our first day in Ericeira, who approached me by saying 'You wore the Amanda Wakeley dress', which despite being a little disarming, made sense when she said she had read this blog. Glad it has been of some help to people to make their decisions.
So with the hindsight of three years, would we do it the same all over again? Absolutely; it was amazing to go back to Gradil and Ann Frost's amazing hospitality. Hopefully it won't be as long again before we're back!
